What is a Krewe?
A Krewe is a social organization whose purpose is to participate in parades, festivals, civic events a
nd local charities throughout its area and region. In the Tampa area, the average Krewe participates in
about 3-5 parades each year. A Krewe may have a theme of historical or cultural significance to its local
area;  although some do not. Krewes sponsor fun floats in the parades complementing the Krewes’ theme
while displaying their Royalty Court and Members dressed in their colorful costumes passing out beads,
coins or other trinkets to the crowd.

Krewe Activities
Listed are some of the fun and rewarding activities the Krewe offers during the year:
Parade Package Members participate in The Gasparilla Children’s Parade, The Gasparilla Parade,
Sant’ Yago Knight Parade, St. Patrick’s Parade and the Children’s Christmas Parade.
They also meet prior to specific parades for Krewe updates, which include group lunches/breakfast or
hors d’voures. Also provided for your convenience are parking, bus transportation, and
snacks and drinks at the parade route.

Krewe Socials are planned throughout the year with members, family and prospective guests
participating in Special Family Events, Membership Drives, Cigar Socials, Christmas Party, Horse Track Social,
Spring Picnic, as well as Charity Events to benefit the Ronald McDonald House,
The Home Association, and the Dorothy Thomas School.
Parade and Sponsor Memberships also include ticket(s) to our annual
“Queen Isabella Coronation & Gala Ball”.

As you can imagine, the Krewe of Columbus is a very family orientated Krewe.
There are fun events and socials designed for the kids to come join their parents and
there are also parades and socials designed for just the adults.
