For 2008, the preliminary forecast calls for a total of
13 named storms in the Atlantic with 7 of those being
major hurricanes. It also says it is probable that at
least one major hurricane will hit the U.S. coastline,
specifically the Florida coastline. Thinking back on how
Krewes Kare volunteers scrambled to help folks stricken
by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma, we never want to
have to do that scramble again. THIS is why Krewes Kare
was formed and and why it's important that you get
involved. The 'World's Largest Hurricane Expo & Party'
is a really fun way to make sure we're prepared to help
our neighbors in the event the forecasts are on target
this year. We've been lucky the past 2 years and we like
to think that our event is helping to keep those
hurricanes away...but that could likely be wishful
thinking.
This year's event is all new - held at Zendah
Grotto, 4402 North West Ohio Avenue, in Tampa, behind
the Tampa HCC Campus
Your $25.00 tax-deductible donation ($10 for kids 11-17;
free for kids 10 and under) includes FREE FOOD, BEER,
SOFT DRINKS, ENTERTAINMENT, A FULL BAR, and info &
product vendors. Plus great music inside (a/c yay!) by
Johnny G Lyon, The Moneypenny Band, and The Third Band
(plus surprise musical guests!). Outside: BBQ, games,
the infamous dunk tank, and an all-krewe Chili Cook-off.
The fun just keeps getting bigger and better! Plus, it's
a fun day for your whole family for a great cause! More
